“Massachusetts state Sen. Jarrett Barrios is drafting legislation that would regulate the use of radio-frequency identification technology. Barrios, who introduced anti-spam legislation in 2003 in the commonwealth, says the RFID bill likely will resemble legislation under review in California and Utah.”

Kirk, congressmen submit bill

A new bill submitted to Congress proposes smart card IDs for Medicare recipients and providers. Sens. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Reps. Jim Gerlach (R-Pa) and Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) are the primary sponsors of the proposed legislation.
