Companies Form Strategic Alliance to Jointly Market Combined Ordering Solution

Thursday, July 28, 2005

The CBORD Group, Inc. and SIVA Corporation announced that the companies have entered into a strategic alliance to integrate SIVA’s iSIVA point-of-sale (POS) software with the CBORDÒ Webfood online ordering application. As a result, iSIVA users will be able to offer their customers the option of placing takeout, delivery, and catering orders for their favorite meals via the Internet. Bruce Lane, Executive VP of The CBORD Group said: “Off-premises dining has become an important growth area for almost every segment of the hospitality industry, and Webfood offers a proven method of increasing off-premises dining sales volume.

Combining Webfood with SIVA’s advanced point-of-sale and delivery functionality will make the solution even more powerful for those multi-unit foodservice operators wishing to streamline their takeout and delivery processes and improve their top line.” The Webfood system accepts orders from customers via a web-based interface. Once integration is complete, Webfood will transmit those orders in real time to the iSIVA POS for payment processing and routing to SIVA’s kitchen, delivery management, and back office systems.

“Today’s restaurant managers recognize the value of extending the sales transaction beyond the traditional POS at the counter,” said SIVA CEO Jim Melvin. “At SIVA, our goal is to provide restaurant operators with the right technology for every point where a sale may occur—whether a handheld at tableside, a self-service kiosk in a lobby, or a wireless payment processing device used with curbside takeout. Interfacing to CBORD’s popular online ordering solution will enable us to quickly add this much needed component to our offering.”

The Webfood online ordering system improves service quality and accuracy, increases the efficiency of order delivery, and provides a boost to average order size and value. The comprehensive and feature-rich solution offers takeout, delivery and catering options; “day-in-advance” ordering functionality; and numerous interfaces to systems such as POS, credit card, and stored value card authorization, customer frequency programs, food production, supply chain management, and nutritional analysis.

The iSIVA POS automates ordering and payment processes and enables rapid delivery of sales information to store, field, and corporate employees. Designed as a true enterprise application, iSIVA takes advantage of next-generation technologies such as JAVA, HTTP, and XML to create a connected, open system that reduces the cost and complexity of application support. [end]
