It's nomination time for RFID Breakthrough awards

Nominations are now open for the RFID Breakthrough Awards 2006, which will be presented at a gala dinner evening on November 8, at the Banqueting House in Whitehall.

The 2006 awards will be presented to companies from around the world who are using radio frequency identification technology successfully, whether they be involved in an initial pilot or a full RFID rollout.

Nominations this year can be made in an initial seven categories including the Best Pilot Award= and the Integration Award, as well as awards for business impact, ROI, implementation and RFID Visionary.

Nominations Open For The RFID Breakthrough Awards 2006 Published 12th June 2006

Nominations are now open for the RFID Breakthrough Awards 2006, which will be presented at a gala dinner evening on November 8th at the Banqueting House, Whitehall. Following the success of the RFID Breakthrough Awards 2005, where over thirty nominations were received, the Awards 2006 will reward the success of companies from around the world who are using radio frequency identification technology, whether they be involved in an initial pilot or a full RFID rollout.

Nominations this year can be made in an initial seven categories including the Best Pilot Award, with last year’s winner being Marks and Spencer, and the Integration Award, won last year by Virgin Atlantic Airways. Other categories include awards for business impact, ROI, implementation and RFID Visionary.

The RFID Breakthrough Awards 2006 will be decided upon by a prestigious judging panel featuring David Lyon (Business Manager, GS1UK), Neco Can (Vice President, Attevo), Ivano Ortis (Progam Manager, IDC), Chris Rezendes (Vice President, Venture Development Corporation), Nigel Montgomery (European Research Director, AMR Research), Dr Peter Harrop (Chairman IDTechEx) and Ed Cowley (Director, RFID Centre).

Talking of the Metro 2005 Award win Dr Gerd Wolfram (Managing Director, MG1 Metro Group, Information Technology GmbH, 2005 Visionary Award Winner and 2006 judging panel member) said “Winning an RFID Breakthrough Award was the validation of our commitment to introducing this key technology”, the Awards “express thanks to all those who contribute day in and day out to driving the development and implementation of RFID technology.”

Nominations are now being welcomed from either RFID vendors or RFID end-users, and can be made by completing the nomination form at www.rfidawards.com. All nominations must be received by the closing date of September 29th 2006

The RFID Breakthrough Awards 2006 will be held in conjunction with the 7th RFID Networking Forum, Europe’s largest end-user RFID event, which will be taking place on November 9th at the Olympia 2 Conference Centre in London.

Global sales of NFC-enabled handsets increased ten-fold in 2011 to 30 million units, according to a new research report by Berg Insight.
