First Biometric Deadbolt Lock Available to Consumers

The BioLock, developed by Sequiam Biometrics and KwikSet while using AuthenTec’s FingerLoc technology, hopes to bring biometrics into the world of household securities. VASCO Data Security International Inc. launched a version of MYDIGIPASS.COM for consumers to authenticate and securely log in to Web sites and Web applications.

The product adds strong user authentication to tens of thousands of online B2B and B2C Web-based applications. Using a soft- or hardware client device, such as DIGIPAS, dormant embedded DIGIPASS, DIGIPASS+ devices and smart card enabled national ID cards, MYDIGIPASS.COM can secure consumer online accounts. With MYDIGIPASS.COM, consumers only have to log in once to access all activated sites.

Six out of 10 consumers in the UK would avoid using NFC to make mobile payments, according to new research from VoucherCodes.co.uk.

Out of 2,000 adults surveyed by VoucherCodes, 60% said they would avoid using NFC to pay for goods even if they had the capability to do so. Of these, 36% cited security as their main reason for avoidance.
