Drivers who get stopped by certain officers in England and Wales will now have their fingerprints taken and checked against a database of over 6.5 million prints. While officers promise that the prints will not be kept on record, instead only used to see if the person has warrants or other infractions, this is still raising concerns for breaches in civil liberties. Neurotechnology announced that it has developed three versions of embedded solutions for Android-powered devices such as smart phones and tablets. Specifically, Neurotechnology has ported its VeriFinger Embedded software development kit (SDK), which authenticates user identities via fingerprints, VeriLook Embedded SDK, which authenticates user identities via facial recognition, and MegaMatcher Embedded SDK, which authenticates user identities via both fingerprints and facial recognition.
