Portable surveillance systems company Third Eye has released a Security Alert Tracking System (SATS) that allows casinos, banks or convenience stores to be alerted if one of their employees’ hearts begins racing, reports RFID Journal.

The alerts help management know ASAP if an employee is under stress and could be in an emergency situation (or even planning a theft against the business).

Gemalto unveils health care IT solution

Gemalto announced the launch of ProtivaMedSecure, a solution package that addresses one of challenges facing health care providers: a secure digital identity.

Gemalto’s Protiva MedSecure provides a portfolio of authentication software, digital credentials, secure devices, servers and associated services. The Gemalto solution provides a single credential for secure visual identity, as well as physical and logical access to medical facilities and electronic medical records.

Resolute Health launches smart card for easier patient registration

Resolute Health, based in New Braunfels, Texas, has launched a health security smart card to facilitate patient registration.

Resolute contracted with LifeMed ID to implement the SecureReg Patient Identity Management System. With the Resolute Health BeneFIT smart card, a patient can check into either the Resolute Health Center for Wellbeing or the Resolute Health Family Urgent Care Center and be accurately identified.

Pill recognition software in the works

Medical researchers at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) who are trying to develop a mobile app that can identify medication have received a T1 Catalyst Mobile Health Translational Project Award from the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at UCSF.
