CoreStreet’s PIVMAN System Selected as Finalist for Breakthrough Award PIVMAN System for Secure ID Checking Honored at CardTech SecurTech Annual Conference

CAMBRIDGE, MA – May 21, 2007 – CoreStreet, a leader in software for smart credential and convergence programs, today announced that its PIVMAN™ System has been selected as a Card Technology Innovation Breakthrough Award finalist at the annual CardTech SecurTech show. CoreStreet’s PIVMAN System enables cardholder status and privilege checking of any government-issued smart card in any environment.

“With demonstrations like Winter Storm, the PIVMAN System has already proven its effectiveness in the field,” said Salvatore D’Agostino, executive vice president of CoreStreet. “Recognition by industry experts in the Card Technology Breakthrough Awards shows how the industry is supporting those technologies and products that help increase smart card adoption especially in the area of large credentialing initiatives.”

Created in 2004, the Card Technology Breakthrough Awards were developed in order to better recognize and showcase the technologies and individuals who are moving the smart card industry forward. Each year Card Technology Magazine presents four awards honoring technologies and those who have made an impact on the industry in four categories: Innovation, Implementation, New Markets and Visionary.

The PIVMAN System, which consists of software for rugged handhelds and back-end servers, is one of the first applications to fully leverage the U.S. government-wide smart card infrastructure that is being deployed under Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12). By taking advantage of this infrastructure, the PIVMAN System can display accurate information about cardholders from any federal, state, or local agency that has issued credentials based on FIPS 201. This functionality is required by first responders to establish secure perimeters, by government security personnel to identify the status and privileges of entering individuals, and by many other organizations with credential-checking needs.

Recently, CoreStreet’s PIVMAN™ System was used as part of the Winter Storm demonstration organized by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The overall goal of this demonstration was to validate the functionality of the First Responder Authentication Credential (FRAC) and the integration of electronic attributes. A number of CoreStreet customers participated in this demonstration including, the District of Columbia, the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State of Illinois, State of Maryland, and other National Capital Region entities.
