Thales announced the launch of its new Datacryptor® 10 Gig Ethernet Layer 2 Encryptor which is targeted for use with large financial institutions and government agencies that use a 10 Gigabit Ethernet connection in their core backbone in order to support the enormous explosion of bandwidth intensive applications such as Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity. The 10 Gig Ethernet Datacryptor addresses the need for secure 10 gigabit backbone WAN links with minimal latency and is also FIPS 140-2, level 2 certified and in process for Common Criteria EAL 3.
Thales Unveils New 10 Gigabit Ethernet Layer 2 Encryption Solution For WAN Backbone Networks
WESTON, Fla.–Thales, a global provider of cryptographic security products and services and ID management solutions to governments and financial networks, announced today the launch of its new Datacryptor® 10 Gig Ethernet Layer 2 Encryptor. 10 Gigabit Ethernet is increasingly being deployed by large financial institutions and government agencies in the core backbone to support the enormous explosion of bandwidth intensive applications such as in Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity.
The 10 Gig Ethernet Datacryptor addresses the need for secure 10 gigabit backbone WAN links with minimal latency. The Datacryptor 10 Gig provides central management, ease-of-use and quick setup. Securing mission critical, core backbones at these speeds requires security solutions that do not have effects on the overall performance of the WAN. Applications such as disaster recovery, data center connectivity and data replication depend on full bandwidth. The Datacryptor 10 Gig Ethernet encrypts the data without the overheads associated with IPSec security.
New security policies, such as Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and European Union Data Protection Directives, for both financial institutions and government agencies, are requiring data security and driving the need for low latency, high performance solutions, such as 10 Gig Ethernet. The Datacryptor 10 Gig Ethernet uses the strongest security with 256 bit AES allowing government and enterprise to meet the performance and the security requirements.
“With the emergence and growth of Gigabit Ethernet backbones within the government and enterprises, Thales continues to respond to our customer requirements by introducing new solutions and technologies that meet their needs,” said James Kilazoglou, VP & MD of the e-Security activities of Thales Security Solutions & Services.
Datacryptor products can be centrally managed by a single secure management application, the Thales Element Manager, which is a key differentiator enabling simplified operation and reduced training cost. Thales’ Datacryptor portfolio of encryption products (T1, E1, T3, E3, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, OC-192, Gigabit Ethernet) and solutions is highly recognized in the industry for securing the confidentiality of critical data in transit. The Thales Datacryptor family is FIPS 140-2, level 2 certified and in process for Common Criteria EAL 3.
