Smart Card Alliance to hold a retailer's webinar on contactless payments

Smart Card Alliance LogoThe Smart Card Alliance is holding a free webinar on July 19th at Noon Eastern Time called “Contactless Payments: The Retailer Experience.” The webinar is focused on contactless payments, but is geared toward retailers interested in learning more about accepting contactless payments. There will be presentation from Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc., Dr Pepper/Seven Up Inc., and Jack in the Box, Inc.

Contactless Payment Retailers Present Experiences and Hold Live Q&A on July 19th at Noon Eastern Time

PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ, June 29, 2007–Millions of consumers in the United States enjoy using speedy and convenient contactless financial payment cards and devices every day to pay for purchases at the retail point-of-sale. Capitalizing on consumers’ love of the technology, some of the best known retailers across the nation are now accepting contactless payments. Retailers interested in hearing their peers at Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc., Dr Pepper/Seven Up Inc. and Jack in the Box, Inc. share experiences with contactless payment and its many benefits are invited to join a free Smart Card Alliance web seminar, “Contactless Payments: The Retailer Experience,” July 19th at Noon Eastern Time.

“Contactless financial payments are really catching on with consumers, and issuers and retailers alike are recognizing this trend. More than 21 million contactless cards have been issued in the United States, and more than 51,000 retailers worldwide accept them,” said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance. “This retailer-focused web seminar will provide attendees with a detailed understanding of what is driving the move to contactless payments and how they can bring the many advantages of the technology to their business.”

Retailer executives presenting are Gavin Waugh, senior director of treasury, Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc.; Mark Jackson, vice president of business development, cold drink, Dr Pepper/Seven Up Inc.; and Michael Verdesca, division vice president, systems development, Jack in the Box, Inc. Additional presenters are Sahir Anand, retail research analyst, Aberdeen Group, and Randy Vanderhoof. Susan Reda, executive editor of STORES Magazine and LPInformation, will moderate the presentation.
