RFID: Not Fast Enough, Says eWeek Analysis

Is RFID “catching on” as quickly as expected? Not according to the newsmakers at eweek.

The media outlet’s latest news analysis concludes RFID is only slowly catching on despite small-scale successes.

The example: Alien Technology announced July 30 that one of its customers, textile producer Griva SpA, has realized a 30 percent return on investment of its implementation of Alien’s RFID tag and reader system—not in real dollars but rather in time management savings and increased traceability of fabric rolls. [end] 

Dolcera Corporation has released a patent repository for NFC technology.

According to Dolcera, the new report provides a layout of “essential patents” that enable the use of the NFC technology based on ISO/IEC 14443, ECMA-340 and ECMA-352 standards, as well as the patents that are used to deliver NFC-enabled applications to consumers.
