ID World 2007 International Congress

The ID WORLD 2007 International Congress world summit on automatic identification will take place in Milan on November 26 to 28 at the Milanofiori Congress Center. There are three main tracks on the Conference agenda: Transportation Security Forum, Asset Tracking Forum, and Electronic Passport Forum. Topics include RFID, biometrics, smart card technologies, and the auto ID industry as a whole.

ID WORLD 2007 International Congress

The ID WORLD International Congress, organized by Wise Media, is the annual world summit on automatic identification. It is the most comprehensive showcase of RFID, biometrics and smart card technologies, and is the only international forum that looks at the auto ID industry as a whole, describing all auto ID technologies and presenting the trends and issues related to their penetration of different vertical market sectors. This year’s ID WORLD International Congress will take place in Milan on November 26 to 28 at the Milanofiori Congress Center. The ID WORLD Conference agenda consists of three pivotal streams: the Transportation Security Forum, the Asset Tracking Forum and the Electronic Passport Forum. The Smart Card Alliance Transportation Council has published a white paper examining how the transit industry can best make use of NFC technology.

“One of the major challenges facing transit agencies today is how to capitalize on the ever-growing popularity of mobile phones with a solid mobile strategy,” said Transportation Council Chairman Craig Roberts. “This white paper builds on the knowledge base developed in earlier white papers to foster a greater understanding of NFC technology, explain its role in the transit industry, and shed light on key issues facing the transit industry in developing a mobile strategy.”

India transport operator Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd. has launched a smart transit card for commuters traveling on the region’s bus system, according to ISO&Agent.

The agency began a six-month trial and August 2010 followed by a soft and silent launch in January 2012. The card is available now for a nonrefundable fee of 25 rupees ($.50 US cents) and allows commuters to travel for up to 100 minutes on one bus, for the minimum fare.

In an effort to streamline passenger security, Jakarta, Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport has opened the country’s first biometric immigration gate.

Fingerprint biometric identification provider BIO-key International, Inc. and Oakwell Engineering Limited partnered to create the new gate, designed for use by passengers with electronic passports. Passengers submit their e-passports and authenticate with a fingerprint.
