Is RFID more at risk than we think it is?

AIM Global, the trade association for the Automatic Identification and Mobility industry, just released a new report “Securing The Benefits Of RFID,” makes such a case.

Here’s an excerpt:

Aside from RF-blocking devices aimed at consumers, RFID security tools and techniques are designed for technical professionals who are designing and implementing RFID systems. They range from very basic (encoding only a “dumb” license plate or using wafer encoded or true WORM chips) to more complex methods such as encryption or data obfuscation (encoding one set of data but transmitting a different one).

Research and Markets announced the addition of Polasik Research’s contactless payment cards market report, “The Global Contactless Payment Cards Market”, to its offering.

The report describes the evolution contactless payment methods used at point-of-sale, with reference to the solutions offered under the American Express/MasterCard/Visa Agreement.
