BlueStar Signs Distribution Agreement with Oracle

BlueStar, the leading innovator in solutions-based distribution for Auto ID, Point-of-Sale, Mobility and RFID products, is announcing that it has earned Certified Partner status in the Oracle PartnerNetwork and has signed an agreement with Oracle to distribute Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS) and Oracle Field Service.

Oracle Warehouse Management automates and optimizes material-handling processes to help reduce labor costs, improve facility utilization, increase order accuracy and provide innovative services to customers. It supports inbound, outbound, and reverse logistics; finished, raw, and work-in-process materials; manufacturing and distribution environments; and advanced value-added services such as kitting and cross docking. Oracle Warehouse Management is part of the Oracle E-Business Suite and integrates seamlessly with other Oracle logistics applications.

Oracle Field Service (formerly Service Online) drives profitability by automating the process of dispatching field technicians to service calls in remote locations. Field Service improves customer satisfaction by more accurately predicting a window to promise for service delivery and it contains the Assignment Manager designed to eliminate guesswork surrounding qualification, availability, and geographic relevance of each field service technician. Oracle Field Service is part of the Oracle E-Business Suite.

“Allowing BlueStar to resell Oracle Applications such as the Oracle E-Business Suite enables them to offer complete solutions to their customers in Warehouse Management and Field Service. This increases BlueStar’s revenues per customer-sale and increases their customer’s perception of BlueStar as a single-source provider in these vertical markets,” says Robert BuWalda, Senior Director of ISV Channels at Oracle.

“BlueStar’s solutions-oriented approach to the AIDC and POS industries allows us to deliver powerful technology solutions to solve specific business problems common for many mid-sized companies,” explains Greg Seelbach, Director of Market Development at BlueStar. [end]

Oracle has released a new version of Oracle Retail Point-of-Service that aims to increase security, operational efficiency and functionality in part by integrating biometrics.

Oracle partnered with DigitalPersonal to add integrated biometrics to the POS package. Users of the software will login using their fingerprint, which will replace the need for PINs or passwords. This feature intends to reduce fraud by eliminating the possibility of unauthorized employees using a manager ID or swipe card to access the POS and approve overrides.
