Secure Design KK (“Secure Design” or the “Company”), the Japanese developer of biometrics fingerprint authentication technology, has announced that Secure Design has been selected by the City Council of Yokosuka, Japan to supply a fingerprint authentication device for all council members. The Council has adopted the Company’s Finger Log-on (FLO-tube) fingerprint authentication system deploying the FLO-tube system for each of the council members’ PCs.

Taketoshi Kashiwabara, the Chairman said: “The decision of the City Council of Yokosuka provides us with a textbook example of how fingerprint authentication offers information security for a PC network system of a public organisation, where the protection of private information is the paramount issue.”

About Finger Log-on

Finger Log-On (FLO) offers a new solution to the logical security including “Windows logon,” “single sign on,” “file encryption,” and “application management.” The client authentication device is called FLO-Tube which is a USB fingerprint matching device with flash memory. The fingerprint data is encrypted and stored in the FLO-Tube and the device CPU performs the authentication. There is no fingerprint data transferred to a connected PC, establishing the highest security for the mobile device. FLO-Tube comes with flash memory (2456M, 512M or 1GB). All data is encrypted automatically and then stored in the flash memory, making a hardwire hacking impossible.

The server based user administration system is called Finger Log-On Manager. It uses Active Directory for the central administration of client FLO-Tubes. No additional fingerprint authentication server will be required.

The Company offers fingerprint authentication products to companies and individuals that wish to establish high levels of security using biometrics. Biometrics uses a physical attribute of the body, such as a fingerprint to identify and verify the individual with the aim of making individual authentication efficient and secure.

The Company offers a range of fingerprint authentication products and systems, from an integrated system to a mobile device. The Company designs and outsources the production of these products and can tailor them to individual client specific needs and applications. [end]
