PRECISE BIOMETRICS RECEIVES FOLLOW-UP ORDER FOR SWISSCOM WORTH SEK 2.4 MILLION

LUND, SWEDEN — Precise Biometrics AB, which develops and sells world-leading and user-friendly biometric security solutions based on fingerprints and smart cards, has through a local distributor - Rotronics AG in Switzerland - won a follow-up order for fingerprint logon in computer systems. Precise Biometrics will be supplying the keyboard Precise 100 MC BioKeyboard. By logging on to computers by means of biometrics it will be easier for users to gain access to the wide range of applications in daily use, and which require complicated and frequently updated passwords. The solution for Swisscom is already in use at their call center.

Swisscom is Switzerland’s leading telecom company with a total of around 12,000 employees. Swisscom delivers services and products for mobile data communication. The delivery of the biometric keyboards will start during first quarter 2008.

Swisscom chose Precise 100 MC BioKeyboards for biometric logon already in the end of 2006 since the product offers excellent logon functions at a reasonable price, replacing complicated passwords with fingerprint technology, which is much easier to use. The solution is based on a solution from ActivIdentity that integrates Precise BioMatch™, and is also utilized by users that have laptops with built-in fingerprint sensors.

“The new order is a very pleasing development of our ongoing cooperation with Swisscom. The fact that we can deliver the most cost-effective keyboard that comply with their requirements makes it even better,” says Thomas Marschall, President and CEO of Precise Biometrics.

Precise Biometrics has entered a partnership agreement with smart-card technology developer Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) to bring Precise’s Match-on-Card technology to G&D’s smart cards.

The partnership will enable G&D’s clients to provide smart cards with encrypted data on the user’s fingerprint so that when a card is swiped and a fingerprint is scanned for identification purposes, the match occurs between the data stored on the card and the fingerprint swiped rather than routing data to and from a database.
