Abloy automatic door operators provide easy access to disabled visitors

As part of a recent refurbishment project to the George House in York, United Kingdom, automatic door operators were fitted to the main external door and to the offices, meeting room and kitchen doors, in order to give disabled visitors easy entry into and passage through the building. George House is an office and meeting center frequently used by disabled children and young people. Vador Security Systems installed the system and had previously installed an Abloy Master Key system, covering the front door, manager’s office and two other offices at George House. Abloy DA400 external door operator is linked to a video and intercom door entry system for added security at the entrance door. To activate each of the six Abloy DA361 door operators installed on the major internal doors, Vador fitted Abloy electric switches on either side of the doors.

HID Global has announced the successful completion of the world’s first university pilot of NFC smart phones carrying digital keys.

First announced in September, the pilot involved a select group of students and staff at Arizona State University using NFC-enabled smart phones equipped with HID’s Secure Identity Object (SIO) Technology. Participants could gain access to their residence halls and other secure access areas by tapping their handset against a reader embedded in the door and entering a PIN, rather than use their plastic campus card.

GAO RFID has released a Wiegand-to-Ethernet RFID controller designed specifically for door access applications.

The network access controller, model 491018, is able to connect to any type of Wiegand reader such as magnetic stripe reader, RFID reader or fingerprint reader.
