InformationWeek 'CIO of the Year' Eyes RFID, Future

Tim Stanley, CIO of the casino enterprise Harrah’s Entertainment, said he CIO sees RFID as a key process and business enabler for the future.

InformationWeek’s “CIO of The Year” says near-term plans include the installation of interactive digital displays in slot machines. This would let customers, for instance, order drinks without having to wait for a waitress to show up (and making sure preferred customers get their drinks pronto), an IW profile explains.

As some may recall back in June 2010, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) of New York launched tap-and-go contactless payments for commuters to enter select subway stations and participating bus lines using MasterCard PayPass-enabled terminals. Well, the results are in.
