Description: Every year, in January, Berlin’s Grand Hotel Esplanade welcomes the smart card / smart object community to its very own annual conference. OMNICARD provides a credible annual platform for community members to share their knowledge and experience, a platform which, for the last 14 years, has been highly valued by smart card customers, by microchip and card manufacturers, by the suppliers of machines and terminals, by regulative and standardisation authorities, by system integrators, researchers, employer federations, consultants, politicians and journalists.

OMNICARD is by far the most important event of its kind in central Europe. Thanks to its worldwide reputation, and to first class speakers from Germany and abroad, it is one of Europe’s top IT events

Your comfort, convenience and advantage are our main concern. In a hotel with an excellent reputation you can do all you wish under one roof: attend the special exhibition, take part in the workshops and lectures, meet business partners and make new contacts, and, as most delegates do, spend the night in one of the hotel’s many comfortable rooms at attractive prices.

OMNICARD is a networking event. For three full days and until late at night on two evenings, delegates have the opportunity to meet old contacts and make new ones. These three days also give them a comprehensive overview of new applications, risks and solutions, technological trends, progress and obstacles, definitive projects, failures, ideas, and planned legislation relevant to the field. In short: a wealth of impulses and encounters with well-known German and international specialists whose contact data will be a valuable addition to any address book, creating great opportunities for new cooperation. [end]

MIssouri-based GoldKey Security Corp. has released a smart card minidriver that supports Microsoft Crypto APIs and can be integrated with PKI applications.

The minidriver negates the need for additional software or middleware, enabling users to deploy two-factor authentication for Microsoft Active Directory. The authentication factors combine a physical token with a memorized PIN and can be used locally or via remote login.
