Gulfport-Biloxi Airport gets Vigilant

Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport in Mississippi is deploying a registered traveler program from Vigilant Solutions, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.

Passengers wanting to sign up for the program must undergo a Transportation Security Administration background check. They will then be able to use a biometric smart card to access expedited lanes at the airports.

Vigilant Solutions offers additional value added benefits as well, including automated parking, preferred passenger exiting and access to an airport lounge. Cost for the Vigilant service range from $149 a year for the lowest level to $349 for the highest level. [end]

Jakarta airport opens biometric immigration gate

In an effort to streamline passenger security, Jakarta, Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport has opened the country’s first biometric immigration gate.

Fingerprint biometric identification provider BIO-key International, Inc. and Oakwell Engineering Limited partnered to create the new gate, designed for use by passengers with electronic passports. Passengers submit their e-passports and authenticate with a fingerprint.
