We’re hearing from RFID Journal that RFID Trinidad & Tobago (RFIDTT), a small startup company in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, is trying to get the technology up and running there.

The a spin-off of Label House Group Ltd., a 25-year-old packaging and labeling company headquartered in Trinidad will specialize in RFID systems integration, the Journal reports. [end] 

According to a report on businessweekly.co.uk, the surge in orders for RFID in 2009 will create a 5% percent rise in the global RFID market this year to $5.56 billion. The report found that the US, China, Japan and the UK have been the most active in pursuing RFID projects in 2009. The report looks at alll types of RFID projects, from payments cards and e-passports to those used for shipping and logistics.

Auto ID solutions provider Axcess International has announced it will provide security infrastructure systems for the port of Trinidad’s capital, Port-of-Spain.
