bioMETRX incorporates OKI's fingerprint engine in its product line

bioMETRX and Oki Semiconductor Company are working together on a new solution that will result in lowering bioMETRX’s overall build costs for its expanding smartTOUCH finger-activated consumer product lines.

OKI recently announced that it has begun sampling its ML67Q5250 a “single-chip” solution enabling fingerprint authentication. “bioMETRX has been testing various technologies supplied to it by OKI Semiconductor, with additional engineering assistance from OKI headquarters in Japan. The engineering effort was initiated to examine whether we could reduce component and manufacturing costs of the smartTOUCH brand of finger activated consumer products,” stated Mark R. Mobile and network security provider AuthenTec has released the AuthenTec AE2750, a fingerprint sensor designed for use in mobile commerce applications.

The AE2750 contains many features found in smart sensor designs, such as a 192 pixel by 8 pixel fingerprint sensor array. It also offers hybrid fingerprint matching on a sensor match and host match, AES, RSA and SHA encryption block and One Time Password generation. The device can mount on smart phones, tablest and touchscreen-enabled mobile devices.

FingerTec USA has expanded its line of fingerprint time clock software systems with the Face ID 3, which utilizes facial recognition capability.

Face ID 3 is a contact-free computer timeclock that can be used in business or home environments. The system weighs about four pounds and uses facial recognition plus a network of infrared scanners for a surface texture analysis (STA) algorithm.

M2SYS Technology has released an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) that enables the storage, search, retrieval, processing and editing of biometric data and subject records. The new system is built on multi-modal architecture, enabling users to combine the biometric matching of a fingerprint with that of an iris, face or palm print.

Multimodal biometric security provider ImageWare Systems Inc. has released version 2.0 of its Biometric Engine (BE) physical security identification product.

This product is designed for airports, seaports and other critical points-of-access for government and private enterprises. This update takes into account the SAFE Port Act, which requires foreign shippers to secure cargo being shipped to the U.S. and ensure the identity of those loading it. Shippers must manage this by 2013.

California-based BridgePoint Systems has introduced its TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader for physical access control systems.

With the TrustPoint product, users enter a PIN into the reader. The reader then performs a biometric finger scan and completes a one-to-one match between it and the biometric template stored on a PIV credential, a process that takes less than two seconds. The smart card reader also verifies the templates digital signature.
