bioMETRX and Oki Semiconductor Company are working together on a new solution that will result in lowering bioMETRX’s overall build costs for its expanding smartTOUCH finger-activated consumer product lines.

OKI recently announced that it has begun sampling its ML67Q5250 a “single-chip” solution enabling fingerprint authentication. “bioMETRX has been testing various technologies supplied to it by OKI Semiconductor, with additional engineering assistance from OKI headquarters in Japan. The engineering effort was initiated to examine whether we could reduce component and manufacturing costs of the smartTOUCH brand of finger activated consumer products,” stated Mark R. Basile, CEO of bioMETRX, Inc.

Human Recognition Systems enhances latent processing tool

Human Recognition Systems (HRS) has added features and enhancements to its MForce latent fingerprint processing product.

In an effort to reduce operation times and costs, HRS has developed MForce as a mobile biometric product that enables law enforcement officers and military to obtain and process latent and livescan fingerprints in the field. By processing prints onsite, users are able to quickly provide investigators with intelligence.

Precise develops smart cases for mobile devices

Precise Biometrics has developed a new line of “smart cases” for brands of tablets and smart phones to be released in 2012 and 2013. The new smart cases have built-in card reader and fingerprint sensor enabling users to both secure their devices as well as replace various password-based security for protected online sites and applications.

Suprema receives final certifications for use in UID

Suprema announced that its RealScan-G10 and RealScan-10 line of fingerprint scanners have received final certification from the Government of India’s Standardization Testing & Quality Certification (STQC) to be part of the country’s Unique ID (UID) project.

SmartMetric introduces biometric-enhanced EMV card

In an effort to increase the security of the current EMV chip and PIN, SmartMetric has created an EMV card enhanced with biometrics.

The SmartMetric Chip & Biometric EMV Card incorporates fingerprints to activate the card. It’s designed to increase the security of standard EMV chip and PIN cards, which SmartMetric claims are still vulnerable to fraud attacks, even though they are safer than a magnetic stripe card.

Fujitsu debuts AuthenTec fingerprint sensor in new smart phone

AuthenTec has announced that its AES850 smart fingerprint sensor has been integrated into a new Fujitsu smart phone, the REGZA Phone T-01D.

With AuthenTec’s AES850, the Android 2.3-based phone can be locked and unlocked via a quick scan of the user’s fingerprint. The sensor can also be used to control access to applications on the phone as well as provide greater security for NFC-enabled mobile payments.

Adeptra and TrustID form partnership against telephone fraud

Auto-resolution technology provider Aeptra and authentication services firm TrustID have formed a technology partnership to improve financial institutions’ ability to recognize and prevent telephone-based fraud.
