SmartCentric's SmartCity® Software as a Service provides cost and time savings

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

After successful implementation of its software as a service model at a California dentist college last year, SmartCentric Technologies is rolling out its hosted service offering, which gives customers access to all of the company’s smart card applications while reducing their investment in local infrastructure and hardware. The software is located offsite at a central hosted location and the software is accessed over the web using a secure connection. Card offices are now able to chose from any or all of the SmartCity Suite of applications including logical or physical access, Password Wallet, ePurse, and more. Biometrics can even be added for greater security.

Dublin, Ireland and West Palm Beach, Florida–SmartCentric Technologies International Ltd has announced SmartCity® Software as a Service (SaaS) which will allow rapid deployment of the SmartCity® Suite while providing significant cost savings.

The SmartCity SaaS Solution gives customers access to the full range of smart card solutions with a reduced investment in local infrastructure and hardware. The software is located offsite at a central hosted location and the software is accessed over the web using a highly secure connection.

Card offices can chose from any or all of the SmartCity Suite of applications including Logical Access, Physical Access, Password Wallet, ePurse (including vending, photocopying, printing, retail, tuition fees, laundry etc), Point of Sale, Meal Plans, eTicketing, Loyalty and Web Revalue. Biometrics can be added to any solution to provide higher levels of security.

This solution is ideal for a business or campus who wants to implement a smart card solution for one subset of their cardholders or just for certain applications. SmartCity is a modular system which means that additional applications can be added as requirements change or as the system grows. Along with the Future Proof nature of the system, where new cards or applications can be added without affecting existing cardholders, SmartCity SaaS offers more companies and campuses the opportunity to implement smart card systems with less cost, less resources and less risk.

Kieran Timmins, SmartCentric’s CEO, states, “This greatly increases the solutions we can offer to our customers. With educational institutions under pressures to keep costs down, the SmartCity® SaaS model allows our customers to continue to take full advantage of leading edge technologies at a reduced costs. We are confident it will bring SmartCity to a new generation of business and campuses who could benefit from smart card systems.”

Chris Rizzetto, SmartCentric’s Director of Sales for North America, adds, “Our modular approach allows businesses and campuses to implement smart card technology for a very reasonable entry level cost. Once a system is in place, expanding it by adding another module is simply a matter of plug and play. No re-carding needs to occur. SmartCity SaaS offers quick deployment, minimum interruption and added ease of use.” [end]
