TagStar introduces TOM

Friday, March 28, 2008

TOM HF RFID Inlays from TagStarTagStar Systems, a manufacturer of 13.56 MHz (HF) RFID inlays, will be introducing “TOM“, a new development for transponders on metal, at the EuroID trade fair in Cologne from May 13 to 16. Compared to previously available technologies for reading transponders on metallic surfaces, TOM offers substantial technical and economic benefits according to TagStar. The tags consist of an ultra-thin shielding layer laminated in combination with a TagStar inlay. TOM inlays are even capable of being printed by conventional thermal transfer printers.

Due to their extreme flexibility and uncomplicated workability, even in large quantities, TOM inlays open up brand-new possibilities for automatic reading on metallic surfaces and objects in areas such as production process control, counterfeit protection, maintenance and logistics. Until now, technical limitations and prohibitively high costs often prevented such applications from being realized.

TOM inlays from TagStar will be available in three different formats (50x80mm, 50x48mm und 36x20mm) with RFID chips from NXP und Texas Instruments. Additional formats will follow, and customized or application-specific adaptations can also be offered. TOM inlays are supplied as wet inlays or labels in a single lane on reels and comply with the consistently high quality standards of TagStar Systems. [end]
