Students can now do more with their CS Gold cards at Villanova

Monday, March 31, 2008

Pennsylvania-based Villanova University has expanded its CBORD-provided campus card to include online laundry reservations and athletics ticket lotteries. The online laundry management solution allows students to search for available washers and dryers, view wait times for machines in use and place temporary holds on the machines. The athletic lottery geared towards the university’s basketball program, includes a means of determining eligibility based on a number of factors such as past attendance records.

Villanova University/Ithaca, NY – The CBORD Group Inc., a leading provider of campus card solutions for colleges and universities, announced that Villanova University has expanded its use of the CS Gold® campus card system to better serve its student population. Beyond traditional applications such as meal plan and access control management, Villanova now uses CS Gold to manage online laundry reservations, athletics ticket lotteries, and more.

Villanova recently implemented CS Gold LaundryWeb, CBORD’s online laundry management solution, branding it “V-Laundry” on campus. The solution allows students to search for available washers and dryers, view wait times for machines in use, place temporary holds, receive email or text message notifications when machines become available, and much more, all from the convenience of their dorm rooms.

Additionally, Villanova recently rolled out a new program for managing athletics ticket lotteries for its popular basketball games. CS Gold now manages the program, providing a fairly weighted means of determining eligibility based on a number of factors such as past attendance records. Better yet, paper tickets at Villanova’s home games have been replaced with students’ campus cards, eliminating the possibility of tickets being resold, as well as reducing paper waste.

“This one little card does a lot here at Villanova,” says Kathy Gallagher, Director of the Wildcard Office at Villanova University. “Our students want convenience, and we are always looking for ways in which the Wildcard can provide more of it. CS Gold lets us think outside the box.”

“Enhancing the technological experience on campus is one of Villanova’s core strategic goals, and our campus card system has played an integral role in its delivery,” says Stephen Fugale, Chief Information Officer, Villanova University. “Our students come to campus with high expectations of technological services, and our campus cards let us do more than address operational efficiencies or administrative processes—they add to our overall value proposition.”

“Villanova is a wonderful example of university employees actively seeking out new and better ways to serve an ever-evolving student population,” says Randy Eckels, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, The CBORD Group, Inc. “The Villanova team takes their responsibility for customer service very seriously and isn’t afraid to tackle new projects. We are very pleased to play a role in their great success.”

Kathy Gallagher, Director of the Wildcard Office at Villanova University, will present a session at the upcoming National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) conference on the university’s latest card-based student services and how they have impacted customer service at Villanova. The session is titled “The Card Office Redefined: Improving Student Services at Villanova,” and will take place Monday, April 7. [end]
