L-1 signs contract with Washington State Department of Social and Health Services

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. was awarded a contract to perform fingerprint background checks for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. The contract was given to L-1’s wholly-owned subsidiary Integrated Biometric Technology LLC and is valued at more than $7.0 million and will extend over a maximum six-year.

Washington State mandates that prospective caregivers of children in state custody or prospective caregivers are required to undergo fingerprint-based background checks before licenses or contracts are granted. More than 185,000 Washington state residents are expected to be processed as part over the six-year period.

IBT will open 16 Enrollment Centers with plans to increase service to 30 or more locations throughout the state to handle fingerprint enrollment. The system will collect and submit fingerprint records electronically to the Washington State Patrol. Washington State applicants can then take advantage of lower FBI electronic processing fees and faster response times. This enables applicants to start work or obtain licensure in days rather than weeks. [end]
