Atmel releases integrated TPM/Biometric PC authentication solution using the Softex OmniPass Security Client

Atmel® Corporation is providing dual support of its Trusted Platform Modules (TPM) and Biometric FingerChip® solutions within the Softex OmniPass PC Security Client. Now, using OmniPass from Softex, Atmel offers a single supplier integrated solution for the PC market that provides the powerful benefits of both the TPM and FingerChip sensor. Atmel can supply OEMs/ODMs with different combinations of the TPM and FingerChip families to meet almost any convenience or security point. Retail Pro International, a developer of retail industry management software solutions, has announced a partnership with biometric technology developer M2SYS.

The new partnership will see Retail Pro’s RightPOS solution, a point-of-sale-based solution for authenticating users of a register as they process transactions and for employee time and attendance, integrated with M2SYS’s Hybrid Biometric Platform. The partnership will enable any client using RightPOS to do away with employee passwords or PINs for authentication purposes.

CloudPassage has launched Halo NetSec, a firewall, two-factor authentication product that enables access to virtual servers in the public cloud.

As reported by TechWorld, Halo NetSec covers security needs for services from infrastructure providers, such as Amazon Web Services or Rackspace. Administrators can set up defense parameters without having access to an actual network.

DigitalPersona announced the release of a new version of its Pro Enterprise software solution, version 5.2.

Among the aspects of the new version DigitalPersona is touting are the extensive number of factors a company utilizing the solution can use to authenticate for access to sensitive information or secured computer stations. These factors include what a user knows, such as PINs or passwords, things you have, such as smart cards, contactless identity cards or Bluetooth devices, and things you are, such as fingerprints.

NEC Corporation has developed a new cloud security service that implements advanced authentication capabilities from CA Technologies.

NEC combined the CA ArcotID software credential with its NC7000-3A ID utilization infrastructure and NEC Mobile Security security countermeasure product to offer authentication services in the cloud through identity links found on multiple NEC websites. The CA ArcotID product offers integrated two-factor authentication and can be used on smart phones and tablets.
