AuthenTec acquires software assets of EzValidation

Melbourne, Fla.-based AuthenTec has acquired the software assets of EzValidation, formerly a California-based provider of fingerprint sensor authentication and user interface software.

AuthenTec acquired the portfolio of EzValidation software, including its EzPassport fingerprint authentication software. This asset purchase is being recorded as in-process R&D and will be dilutive to AuthenTec’s first quarter earnings per share by $0.01 per share. The first offering of a bundled software solution from AuthenTec, which includes key features of EzPassport, is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2008. [end] 

Mobile and network security provider AuthenTec has released the AuthenTec AE2750, a fingerprint sensor designed for use in mobile commerce applications.

The AE2750 contains many features found in smart sensor designs, such as a 192 pixel by 8 pixel fingerprint sensor array. It also offers hybrid fingerprint matching on a sensor match and host match, AES, RSA and SHA encryption block and One Time Password generation. The device can mount on smart phones, tablest and touchscreen-enabled mobile devices.

AuthenTec announced it has acquired Seattle-based network security solutions developer PeerSec Networks. Among the segments of PeerSec that is included in the acquisition are the Matrix line of device-embedded security solutions, which consists of the MatrixSSL, MatrixSSH and MatrixDTLS, and the team behind those solutions.

The Bank of China and other major Chinese banks are deploying new bank terminals designed to reduce teller fraud in branch offices.

Miaxis Biometrics Co. LTD created the product by integrating AuthenTec’s TCS2 TouchChip fingerprint sensors into its Bank ID Terminals. Bank tellers will use their fingerprints to provide a unique identification marker, which will then provide a biometric audit trail of financial transactions.

AuthenTec announced that its Eikon Digital Privacy Manager now comes pre-configured with Symantec Validation and ID Protection Service (VIP).

The addition of Symantec VIP to Eikon fingerprint readers enable users to perform three-factor authentication via a single swipe of a finger, combining something you are with something you know and something you have – the Eikon fingerprint reader.
