Daon joins Federation for Identity and Cross-Credentialing Systems

Daon has joined the Federation for Identity and Cross-Credentialing Systems Inc. (FiXs) bringing its biometrics platform and standards leadership to the organization. It also has accepted a position on the FiXs Board of Directors.

FiXs is a coalition of commercial companies, government contractors, and not-for-profit organizations whose mission is to establish and maintain a worldwide, interoperable identity and cross-credentialing network built on security, privacy, trust, and standard operating rules. FiXs currently has 24 member companies.


The FiXs network verifies and authenticates the identity of personnel seeking to enter U.S. military installations and other government-controlled areas, as well as commercial sites tied to the network. The U.S. Department of Defense and the General Services Administration are participating government organizations. [end] 

The Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPT) Alliance announced that austriamicrosystems has joined as a full member.

Since joining the OSPT Alliance, austriamicrosystems will have access to the CIPURSE open standard specification, leveraging its experience into embedded systems for mobile fare collection applications. The open standard promotes vendor neutrality and cross-vendor system interoperability with reduced technology adoption risks, higher quality and improved market responsiveness.

The product, called ConfidentID Mobile, provides in and out-of-band identity authentication for transactions in multiple channels, including online and mobile.

Digital camera manufacturer and custom imaging solution provider Lumenera Corp. has received GSA approval for its Lu375 USB 2.0 camera with Aware’s PreFace SDK to be used in FIPS 201-compliant PIV credentialing systems.

Operational Research Consultants Inc. (ORC), a subsidiary of WidePoint Corp., has been authorized to issue PIV-I as a certified non-federal issuer.

As a non-federal issuer, ORCs identity credentials, issued to government contractors, state and local governments, first responders and health care providers, have additional interoperability for customers who wish to conduct e-government and e-commerce transactions with other entities across the Federal Bridge.

In this move, BT is introducing BT Unified Trading federation, a cloud-based trust utility for secure identity exchange and will incorporate Hitachi’s Finger Vein Authentication Engine and technology to offer biometric security capabilities.
