New lamination from Datacard Group offers complete card coverage

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Datacard Group recently released its latest secure supplies product, the Datacard DuraGard Optigram TE security laminate, available with Level I, II, and III custom security design elements.

Fraud is a constant concern in the secure ID industry, which is why developers of secure supplies are working to offer improvements. The Optigram TE laminate is an improvement based around a new die-cut design that is “virtually impossible” to remove in one piece, according to Datacard. It is designed to leave behind pieces of the laminate over sensitive areas of the ID. If someone attempts to remove or alter the sensitive areas, it will damage the security laminate, leaving behind obvious tamper evidence to even a casual observer.

The Optigram TE laminate also is also being touted as one of the industry’s toughest laminates in regards to durability. It exceeds ISO 7810 and 10373 performance requirements, offers optimal abrasion and moisture resistance and provides a complete card coverage solution with virtually edge-to-edge coverage.

Datacard Group’s Head of Supplies Marketing and Product Management Carla Boria said, “Our recommendation to government agencies has always been to use a combination of security elements to provide the highest possible protection against counterfeiting and alterations. The Optigram TE laminate offers another powerful option in this multi-layered approach.” [end]
