VeriFone supplies Canadian restaurant chain

VeriFone Holdings Inc. has announced that Canadian restaurant chain Tim Hortons, has extended its use of VeriFone payment solutions to countertop checkout stations and drive-thru lanes in their U.S. locations. Last year, Tim Hortons – Canada’s largest quick service restaurant chain – deployed 7,500 VeriFone Vx 570 systems with EMV-ready VeriFone SC 5000 PINpads throughout store locations in Canada.

The restaurant introduced the VeriFone technology to enable credit card and contactless payments and to convert from paper-based gift certificates to its prepaid QuickPay Tim Card. The U.S. rollout began in February, with approximately 1,000 Vx 570 systems installed at 375 stores to date; the Canadian deployment began last summer and has now extended to more than 2,100 stores. [end] 

Mobile operator Digicel Pacific Limited has announced the deployment of VeriFone’s mWallet services and NFC-enabled payment systems in the Kingdom of Tonga.

Starting this week, Digicel subscribers in the the Tongan capital Nuku’alofa will be able to receive NFC tags that are linked to their mobile phone numbers and VeriFone’s contactless payment acceptance systems. Customers can affix these tags to their phones to tap and pay at over 50 merchants in Nuku’alofa.
