LaserCard announces new CEO

Secure ID solutions provider LaserCard has named Robert T. DeVincenzi as the company’s new president and chief executive officer. DeVincenzi takes over from Bernard Bailey, LaserCard’s chairman of the board of directors, who has served as interim CEO since March.

DeVincenzi was most recently senior vice president of corporate development for Solectron Inc. He was president and CEO of two venture-backed firms, Inkra Networks, Inc., and Ignis Optics, Inc., and has worked in sales and marketing for companies including Ditech Communications, NORTEL, Compression Labs, Inc. and AT&T. [end] 

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced the publication the new 802.15.4f-2012 standard for active RFID and RTLS.

This new standard will enable interoperability between systems and give end users a wider selection of vendors, whereas in the past the choice has been limited to a single source that supplies a proprietary technology platform.

The government of Saudi Arabia has increased the requirements for its national ID cards.
