Biometric developer and provider enter into exclusive agreement

Biometric Intelligence & Identification Technologies (BI2 Technologies), a leading provider of biometric technologies for law enforcement agencies, has entered into an exclusive agreement to offer the biometric technology of Retica Systems, a developer of iris biometric technology, software, and cameras.

BI2 Technologies is currently used by law enforcement agencies in 30 states and have received endorsement of the National Sheriffs’ Association. BI2 Technologies hope the inclusion of Retica’s specialized cameras, Mobile Eyes and Eagle Eyes, they will be able to further assist many law enforcement agency needs.

Multimodal biometric security provider ImageWare Systems Inc. has released version 2.0 of its Biometric Engine (BE) physical security identification product.

This product is designed for airports, seaports and other critical points-of-access for government and private enterprises. This update takes into account the SAFE Port Act, which requires foreign shippers to secure cargo being shipped to the U.S. and ensure the identity of those loading it. Shippers must manage this by 2013.

California-based BridgePoint Systems has introduced its TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader for physical access control systems.

With the TrustPoint product, users enter a PIN into the reader. The reader then performs a biometric finger scan and completes a one-to-one match between it and the biometric template stored on a PIV credential, a process that takes less than two seconds. The smart card reader also verifies the templates digital signature.
