Datastrip opens new office in Mid East

Datastrip, a provider of biometric mobile identification products, has opened a new sales office in Dubai, UAE following the appointment of Ramji Krishnan as vice president for Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. According to Datastrip CEO Steve Blackmore, the opening of the new office and appointment of Krishnan shows Datastrip’s dedication to the growing need for mobile identity verification solutions in the region. [end] 

Identity security technology developers CardLogix and Datastrip have announced a partnership to combine technology to form a new mobile identity management solution.

Specifically, the solution has combined CadLogix’s M.O.S.T., Credentsys smart card, or ePassport with DataStrip readers such as the handheld Easy Verify to develop handheld, mobile solutions for collecting fingerprint data. Among the potential uses for the product, CardLogix and Datastrip expects to see the solution in use as a tool in national ID authentication, voter authentication, law enforcement and airport security.

London-based Smart Media Innovation Limited (SMI), a developer of mobile applications for secure ID management, has acquired the global rights to Datastrip’s product line of mobile biometric-enabled devices for secure ID verification, giving SMI the ability to offer a full mobile access and ID verification line.

Vision Database Systems, a developer of mobile ID card tracking solutions, has signed an agreement with Datastrip, a mobile handheld manufacturer for the ID market, to represent the company in the U.S.

Office Depot has joined Home Depot as the second U.S. retailer to test PayPal’s point of sale payments solution, according to TG Daily.

Customers at select Office Depot stores can now make payments directly from their PayPal balance by simply punching in their mobile phone number and PayPal PIN. The solution requires only a software update at the point of sale for the merchant, and customers do not need to use a payment card, contactless fob or NFC-enabled phone to make a transaction.

In an effort to streamline passenger security, Jakarta, Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport has opened the country’s first biometric immigration gate.

Fingerprint biometric identification provider BIO-key International, Inc. and Oakwell Engineering Limited partnered to create the new gate, designed for use by passengers with electronic passports. Passengers submit their e-passports and authenticate with a fingerprint.
