OTA’s online RFID training offered to 250 colleges

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

OTA Training LLC has announced that their online RFID training program, RFID on the Web, will be available to over 250 colleges and universities through a collaboration with Gatlin Education Services.

OTA’s RFID on the Web teaches students how to implement RFID successfully and prepares them to become RFID+ certified, using new learning technologies such as flash animated simulations based on real RFID projects to give students a comprehensive knowledge of how the technology is applied in a real-world environment.

Gatlin Education Services is a provider of asynchronous web-based training to colleges, universities and other education providers around the world. Their standardized online methodology includes system administration, evaluation and instruction with their custom designed browser-based courseware.

Several factors make online training an appealing option, including students’ ability to determine the pace of their progression through the material, generally lower costs than those associated with traditional in-person classes, and accessibility. Students are not limited by class times, sizes and course availability because RFID on the Web is available whenever they are. [end]

Administrators at eduKan, a consortium of six Kansas colleges created to offer online courses, are using BioSig-ID, a software only biometric solution, to discourage cheating among students involved in the schools’ distance education programs. The technology enables the colleges to determine that the student taking the course and the test is the same student who registered for the course.
