Barcoding Inc., a provider of automated data capture solutions, has released the CaptureTech RFID Interpreter, a new addition to its line of RFID solutions. The new device offers users a simple way to translate RFID tag data into any Windows-based PC application.

The CaptureTech RFID Interpreter integrates an RFID reader, antenna and tag data processing capability into a compact and portable desktop device, without requiring any special software or software modification.

The interpreter plugs into a USB port (Ethernet capabilities are also built in) and inputs RFID tag data into any existing applications, including Microsoft Office applications, as if it were being typed on a keyboard. RFID tags are scanned over the top surface of the device to input their data into the software application.

GAO Gen 2 RFID reader with 4-port read and 4-port listen

GAO RFID Asset Tracking announced an ultra-high frequency Gen 2 RFID reader with 4-port read and 4-port listen.

This RFID reader, operating at the frequency range of 902 to 928 MHz, reads Gen 2 compatible transponders at a maximum distance of up to 7 meters or more. It also offers communication interfaces including Ethernet TCP/ IP, DHCP and HTTPS for data exchange.

Echoworx opens up access to cloud-based encryption

Atlanta-based Echoworx, a credential management and managed encryption service provider, has opened up its Security Cloud to the industry at large, including MDMs, MEAPs, cloud services and other organization. By plugging into the cloud, they can enable PKI integration across multiple platforms and devices.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has developed and published a new protocol for devices to capture biometric data wirelessly and securely using Web services.

Unlocked Galaxy Nexus arrives in Google Play store

Google has begun selling unlocked Galaxy Nexus smart phones in the Google Play store, the company has announced via its Commerce Blog.

The $399 NFC-enabled smart phone will come preloaded with the Google Wallet mobile payments app and $10 of free credit to get users tapping and paying at a number of participating retailers nationwide.

OTI to deliver 30,000 NFC readers in the U.S.

On Track Innovations (OTI) has received an order for 30,000 of its NFC and contactless payment readers for deployment in the U.S.

OTI did not reveal who will receive the readers, but assured that the devices would be used to support the migration towards contactless payments and NFC in the U.S.

Facebook buys NFC start-up Tagtile

Facebook has acquired Tagtile, a San Francisco based start-up that offers an NFC-enabled mobile marketing and loyalty rewards service for small businesses and merchants.
