Precise receives order for $340,000

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Precise Biometrics, a developer of biometric solutions, has received an order from a government customer located in the Middle East for $340,000 worth of match-on-card readers and licenses. The order is in addition to the multiple orders the same customer has placed with the company since the business relationship started in 2004.

The Match-on-Card system, which is being used for a government ID project, operates by storing and matching fingerprint data on a smartcard to verify an individual’s identity. The fingerprint data is never stored on a database, only on the card itself. Precise hopes to continue their growth in the region as they have already business dealings with Qatar and Bahrain. [end]

Precise Biometrics has entered a partnership agreement with smart-card technology developer Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) to bring Precise’s Match-on-Card technology to G&D’s smart cards.

The partnership will enable G&D’s clients to provide smart cards with encrypted data on the user’s fingerprint so that when a card is swiped and a fingerprint is scanned for identification purposes, the match occurs between the data stored on the card and the fingerprint swiped rather than routing data to and from a database.
