Orsus, a developer of situation management solutions, in a partnership with Orad, a developer of security systems integration technology, has been contracted to implement its Situator products in the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE). The Situator product suite will integrate access control, intruder detection, and surveillance cameras throughout the facility. Among the tools to be integrated into the new system will be the biometric access control which requires a fingerprint scan prior to entering the facility.

In addition to optimizing security response to a variety of situations, the new system will also allow for better training simulations for security personnel as well as better communication of situations to other areas of the IDE.

ADR monitors workforce via RFID at government project in Arlington, Virginia

ADR Software was tapped for its Workforce Monitor construction site labor monitoring service at a large scale government facility improvement project in Arlington, Va.

The system logged nearly 2,300 workers from over 181 companies using ADR Software’s advanced RFID-enabled monitoring stations. Workforce Monitor utilizes RFID tags, embedded in stickers affixed to hard hats and ID badges to monitor workforce traffic, while producing daily workforce reports on specific sub-contractor resources and hours throughout time spent on site.

Intesa Sanpaolo launches NFC payments pilot in Italy

Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy’s largest financial institution, has begun a commercial trial of SIM-based NFC mobile payments, reports NFC World.

The service, dubbed “Move and Pay,” is being tested among 600 Intesa Sanpaolo employees and customers in Milan and Turin, as well as by two academic institutions: The Polytechnic Institute of Milan and Turin ISMB.

HRS strikes partnership agreement with Olive Group

Human recognition Systems announced a partnership with the Olive Group, a provider of safety, security and technology solutions, that will see the Olive Group distributing HRS’s solutions in the Middle East and North Africa regions.

UBC transitions to keyless access

The University of British Columbia has begun the transition to a contactless smart card to access every building and lab on campus.

The iClass UBC card contains an embedded chip which is used to securely open doors when tapped against hotspots located at the building and lab entrances. The card on the hotspot will communicate with campus system software, pull up the students and staff individual profile, and allow them access to the building if they’re authorized to do so.

3M Library Systems tapped to monitor 1.6 million items in Washington Co., Oregon

The Washington County, Oregon library system is set to roll out an automated RFID system across its 15-library network, according to The Oregonian.

3M Library Systems was selected as the vendor of choice to monitor the countywide library collection of more than 1.6 million items including books, movies and music discs. The 3M installation comprises entry and exit security gates, staff workstations and customer self-service kiosks.

GPO produces credentials for Super Bowl

The U.S. Government Printing Office designed and printed an FBI special events credential that was used at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis by public safety personnel.
