GAO launches new tag line

Friday, October 10, 2008

GAO RFID Asset Tracking Inc. has introduced a new family of Gen 2 UHF RFID tags intended for harsh environments, including varying temperatures and mechanical stress, and on-metal tagging. Three tags make up the new line; the small and durable (IP68) Ironside, the Survivor, and the light-weight, rugged Halo.

The Ironside has a read range of eight meters on metal and can be affixed to any surface of the metal either mechanically or with industrial adhesives. It is a small and fully encapsulated tag tested for asset tracking applications such as railway and warehousing solutions. The Ironside has also passed the testing requirements for aerospace standard AS5678 specification.

The Survivor is also designed for on-metal mounting, but it functions on any surface. It is a long read-range passive tag designed to offer an efficient performance-to-cost ratio. The Survivor is intended to track large and valuable assets such as vehicles and metal pipes, and has been successfully deployed in shipping container applications.

The Halo RFID tag provides IP68 defenses from harsh conditions with a light-weight, high-strength and temperature-resistant plastic housing. It is designed to enable easy attachment either through adhesive, tape, or mechanically using mounting holes. The Halo has a read-range of three to four meters on metal, and works efficiently with either a fixed or handheld RFID reader, making it suitable for inventory and warehouse applications, as well as for tracking IT assets. [end]
