The Western Australia Department of Corrective Services (WADCS) has had Argus Solutions, a developer of identity management technology, integrate features from its Cornerstone system into the services exisiting Total Offender Management System (TOMS), according to a Computer World article.

The TOMS was already used in Western Australia jails for identity management, however the new integration by Argus has added biometrics to the system.

The integration of Cornerstone without having to get rid of current systems has other institutions looking towards Argus for future upgrades.

Australian gov't. awards smart card contract to MaxSec

MaxSec Group has been awarded a $1.3 million smart card contract with the Commonwealth of Australia, according to Proactive Investors Australia.

The contract, honored through MaxSec’s wholly owned entity BQT solutions, includes the supply of 6,000 smart card readers to the Australian Government by the end of June 2012.
