SkyRFID launches new access control solutions

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Canadian firm SkyRFID Inc. has introduced a new line of access control solutions based on contactless smart card and proximity technology. The devices include a range of electromagnetic locks, strikes, gate strikes and emergency exit buttons including glass breaks for fire or other emergencies that activate alarm systems.

SkyRFID is emphasizing the hands-free capabilities of their new product line. Their long range readers are built into an automatic door system, enabling disabled persons in wheelchairs or other powered vehicles to open doors at a distance with a key fob or card, eliminating the need to hit a button and then back away to allow the door to swing open. The new devices can increase security, enabling easy restricted access in areas of a building or quick lock downs.

The solutions use dual frequencies of 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz, and meet RS232, RS485 and TCP/IP standards for wide-area, multi-building installations. A variety of software is available to ease implementation and meet specific company requirements. SkyRFID offers both plug-and-play software that clients install on a PC and configure for individual access needs and more labor intensive software with basic tables ready to go, plus source code and additional documentation so clients can tailor the access system to their needs. [end]
