Next president must tackle biometrics

Drew Conway, a doctoral candidate studying international conflict and terrorism at New York University, has written of the five areas of scientific research the next U.S. administration ought to concentrate on to further national security, according to a Wired article. One of the areas was a push for better biometric data collection and analysis.


According to Conway, biometrics has been researched over the past few years, but with little practical applications resulting from it. Some of the suggested changes to make to help along the implementation of useful and secure biometric systems include setting more standards for the collection and analyzing of the data and using the large amount of biometric data collected in Iraq as a starting point for testing the viability of new systems and standards.
