ODIN turns headquarters into industry showcase

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

RFID solutions provider ODIN Technologies has used its new global headquarters to showcase the capabilities of the technology it sells. The Ashburn, Va., facility’s array of passive RFID systems gives it what the company promotes as “Department of Defense level security and audit capability.”

The new facility deploys InSync software and Intermec hardware to track IT assets and other high value property. Asset tracking portals thoughout the building are equipped with Intermec IF61 fixed RFID readers integrated into clear display rack enclosures. InSync’s software ties ODIN’s asset locations to headquarters and specific rooms, racks and shelves inside the facility, and floor plans provide visual reference and coordinates for asset locations.

“ODIN is practicing what it preaches with their IT Tracking System,” says Ray Cronin, vice president and general manager of Intermec’s RFID business. [end]

ODIN has released EasySpecimen - a health care, RFID-based solution recently designed to automate tracking and data entry for medical center pathology labs.

Mayo Clinic, a nonprofit provider in medical care, research and education, has selected ODIN as its RFID software collaborator to replace and upgrade its legacy RFID system and commercialize the patented technology. Mayo is implementing the EasySpecimen RFID solution across its 42 GI/Colorectal Endoscopy suites and Anatomic Pathology Laboratory at its Rochester, MN facilities.
