IBG announces year in biometrics Webcast

International Biometric Group has announced their next upcoming Webcast for January 15th 2009 entitled “2008 The Year in Biometrics.” The Webcast is expected to outline the many news stories surrounding the biometrics market over the past year as well as how the biometrics market thrived both in both commercial and consumer markets despite a failing economy.

Many of the news items covered in the thirty minutes dedicated to the area will be of biometric companies going under, different biometric government initiatives conceived, passed and launched by various governments, large awarded contracts and stock trends. This new e-gate is a thin system that contains vb i-match, a single sourced design that is modular and flexible and can be adapted to business requirements and infrastructure constraints that would otherwise disrupt passenger flow. It has the ability to cope with industry standards such as ICAO. The e-gate supports iris, fingerprint and facial biometrics.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced the publication the new 802.15.4f-2012 standard for active RFID and RTLS.

This new standard will enable interoperability between systems and give end users a wider selection of vendors, whereas in the past the choice has been limited to a single source that supplies a proprietary technology platform.

The Department of Defense’s Biometrics Identity Management Agency (BIMA) has exercised the second option year with modifications on the Ideal Innovations Inc. (I-3) Technology Management task order under the Biometrics Operations and Support Services – Unrestricted (BOSS-U) contract. The cumulative value of the contract is now $30.5 million.
