Thanks in part to a research and development grant from development agency Advantage West Midlands, biometrics developer Warwick Warp, associated with University of Warwick in Warwickshire, UK, has developed a new type of processing software for fingerprint scanners, according to a Birmingham Post article.
The specific improved aspect is the ability to accurately match poor fingerprint samples.
WW officials also intend for their software to be robust enough for large-scale projects like biometric passports as well as individual commercial uses.
