New solution operates at 10 million prints per second

Neurotechnology, a developer of biometric technologies, has announced the availability of their MegaMatcher Accelerator. MegaMatcher Accelerator is a hardware and software solution designed to increase speeds of one-to-many fingerprint or facial biometric matching systems at a potential speed of 10 million prints per second.


The MegaMatcher Accelerator includes software with HP ProLiant DL server hardware that enables 10 fingerprints and one facial template per user. Neurotechnology’s suite is designed for use in civil, commercial and government purposes. [end] 

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced that it intends to replace its Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), reports the La Junta Tribune Democrat.

The 20-year old system contains almost 2.7 million master fingerprint records and is one of the oldest statewide law enforcement agency systems in the U.S. and can no longer keep up with demand. The system was designed to process 700 fingerprint cards in a 24 hour period, but today 1,000 to 1,500 fingerprint cards are put through the system.

Sim-Prints’ biometrics app for improving patient care in the developing world won the first Idea Transform Weekend held in Cambridge, UK, reports Business Weekly.

With this mobile phone-based app, health care workers can collect and check patient information in a variety of environments. The project was developed by Shruti Badwar, Mariy Chhatriwala, Toby Norman for the Global Health Hack Day in March. James Crosby, Marcos Ikegame and Gail Mayhew joined the team for this competition.
