GlobeRanger announces new round of funding

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

GlobeRanger, a Texas-based provider of RFID-enabled enterprise solutions, has announced the completion of a new round of funding. The Series C funding, which includes conversion into equity of some outstanding bridge loans from investors, is worth $8.3 million.

The firm plans to use the new funds to accelerate product and business development activities, with a focus on supply chain logistics solutions in the government, aerospace and defense, and industrial production markets. On the strength of its 40 percent growth in revenues in 2007 and 2008, GlobeRanger was recently named the fifth fastest-growing technology company in the Dallas-Fort Worth area (which itself has been pointed to as a center of RFID development) by the Metropolitan Technology Business Council, a local business organization.

The funding comes from previous backers Sevin Rosen Funds and CenterPoint Ventures, as well as several new investors. [end]

The Richardson Police Department in Texas has deployed an RFID asset management system powered by GlobeRanger’s GR AWARE application.

The RPD solution runs on GlobeRanger’s iMotion platform which enables data capture from current and the next generation of devices. This allows the department to electronically scan and catalog inventory, and obtain real-time visibility on critical assets ranging from weapons and uniforms to radars and cell phones.
