GAO launches tag with mounting strap

Monday, March 23, 2009

GAO Tek Inc., a division of Canada’s GAO Group, has launched a new 433 MHz Active RFID Tag. The tag is designed to be attached to circular metal frames, such as bicycle wheels, and comes equipped with a metal crimping strap to enable that purpose.

The active tag transmits its signals at pre-set time intervals. The spacing of these intervals effects the lifespan of its power source; it has an estimated lifespan of five years if the transmission time interval is approximately 1.5 seconds. All data on the tag, including site and vendor ID, transmission repetition interval and alarm counter, is pre-programmed prior to shipping.

The tag is encapsulated in a molded plastic and rubber case sealed during the manufacturing process, making it suitable for harsh environments. It also accounts for multi-read issues by employing an anti-collision algorithm that disperses transmission about the mean time interval. [end]
