BIO-key awarded federal contract

BIO-key International, a biometric technology developer, announced that it has been awarded a contract from the Federal Probation and Pretrial Services (FPPS) Office under the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. The contract will see the FPPS provided with BIO-key’s WEB-key fingerprint sensor platform to be integrated into identity verification kiosks.

The system will be used as a means of identifying individuals, usually defendants and offenders, arriving at the buildings. The new system is expected to streamline the identity verification and enrollment processes which last year saw over 349,000 filings. [end] 

Cubic Transportation Systems has been awarded a $65 million deal, through its Australian division, to provide for passenger rail operations in Sydney.

The three-year contract includes expanded operations, maintenance of ticketing equipment, infrastructure and delivery of associated services by Cubic to RailCorp (Rail Corporation New South Wales). The contract includes provisions to be extended within two one-year options for services.

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) has awarded a two-year contract to Chicago-based Accurate Biometrics to perform its livescan and cardscan fingerprint collection and transmission services.

MaxSec Group has been awarded a $1.3 million smart card contract with the Commonwealth of Australia, according to Proactive Investors Australia.

The contract, honored through MaxSec’s wholly owned entity BQT solutions, includes the supply of 6,000 smart card readers to the Australian Government by the end of June 2012.

The Department of Defense’s Biometrics Identity Management Agency (BIMA) has exercised the second option year with modifications on the Ideal Innovations Inc. (I-3) Technology Management task order under the Biometrics Operations and Support Services – Unrestricted (BOSS-U) contract. The cumulative value of the contract is now $30.5 million.
