Gemalto joins McAfee alliance

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Gemalto announced that it has joined the McAfee Security Innovation Alliance (SIA) partner program. Under the McAfee SIA program, Gemalto has integrated its Protiva Enterprise Authentication Solutions with McAfee Endpoint Encryption software for pre-boot authentication.

The combined solution provides PC and laptop users with secure access to fully encrypted disks through hardware-based, two-factor authentication.

McAfee Endpoint Encryption software includes full disk encryption to ensure security of information stored on desktops, laptops, tablets and other mobile devices. Security administrators can set a system to prompt for authentication before it even starts booting to protect against possible attacks on the operating system, or just before it is finished booting.

Users must insert their Gemalto digital security device and enter a passphrase or PIN before being authorized to access the system data. McAfee Endpoint Encryption software already supports various Gemalto solutions out of the box, such as .NET and Classic smart cards and the Smart Enterprise Guardian (SEG) USB token. [end]

Gemalto announced it has acquired M2M service provider SensorLogic in an asset arrangement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Plano, Texas-based SensorLogic has a cloud-based machine-to-machine (M2M) service delivery platform. With it, customers can build, deploy and manage M2M products through applications like asset tracking, servicing and telematics and equipment monitoring.
