3M unveils compact tracking pad

Monday, May 4, 2009

3M Track and Trace Solutions, the RFID-oriented division of 3M, has introduced its Mini RFID Tracking Pad. The device is a sleek, portable ISO-compatible RFID reader which can be easily integrated into a variety of tracking systems.

The new tracking pad measures 7.25 by 6.5 inches, small enough to fit in a laptop carrying bag. Conveniently, the Mini Pad can also be fully powered through the USB port of a PC or laptop, making it easily deployable in the field, with only laptop access needed for use in scanning solutions. The compact design of the reader also makes it easy to position in tight spots where options are limited.

Other user-friendly design elements of the Mini Pad include a set of user interface lights which help to quickly confirm successful transactions or events. The device also offers a smooth, cleanable service, making it suitable for uses such as medical applications where hygiene is particularly important. [end]
